Etchings by Jerry Garcia
Etchings by Jerry Garcia are rare and valuable. Unlike lithographic prints, which are mechanically reproduced, an etching is created by the artist drawing or scratching with a graver directly on the metal plate from which the prints are struck. The artist's work is reversed when the image is printed. Having to sign his name backwards was a new requirement for Jerry and took a bit of getting used to, hence the backward "J" in the plate signature of "Fish", for example. Each print is hand inked and individually pulled. All etchings were hand-drawn by Jerry Garcia on zinc plates prepared by Roberta Weir and editioned by Weir Gallery. All our etchings come with Certificate of Authenticity.
